Introducing the Loom Shop

(Plus, the brand team's curated picks for cameras, lights, and audio — so you can record better looms.)

On the Loom brand team, we spend a lot of our time thinking about well-made design: thoughtful illustrations, intentional color palettes, clever word choices. We wouldn’t be very good at our jobs if we didn’t. And as a company, Loom spends a whole lot of time thinking about communication: the tools, experiences, and products that help users communicate faster and better.

We recently decided to turn those dual focuses on design and communication into a tangible project: the Loom Shop. From clothing and candles to cameras, the shop is designed to be a high-quality experience full of well-made goods that help people communicate more effectively (and expressively), wherever they work. Every product in the store is chosen because we believe it will accomplish this in at least one of three key ways:

  • Ensure you’re understood: Hardware like cameras and microphones are an essential part of the modern worker's toolkit. They play a key role in your own experience of being on camera as well as others’ experience of receiving and understanding your message.

  • Improve focus: Our physical workspace impacts the way we communicate more than we realize. Even small items like wall art, blankets, and candles can help put you at ease so you can communicate from a place of comfort and clarity. They also allow for personal expression and personality in your communication.

  • Help you be yourself: Work is better when you can be you. Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing world around us, the shop will feature a seasonally rotating line of personal goods and apparel designed to help you feel and look great.

For some of these items, we'll be handling production ourselves, but for many of them, we’re identifying brands that share our passion for high-quality design and production.

In addition to the items already in the shop today, here’s our team’s recommendations for audio, lighting, and video equipment that can make communicating with async video faster, clearer, and easier.

Audio

Shure MV7 USB Podcast Microphone with Mini Tripod
Shure MV7 USB Podcast Microphone with Mini Tripod

Our Top Pick: Shure MV7 USB Podcast Microphone with Mini Tripod

  • Price: $269

  • Why we like it: Upping your audio quality is the fastest way to level-up your looms. The price point is high, but this product is best-in-class and delivers recording studio quality audio. It’s built with easy USB plug-and-play setup and an excellent build quality. We recommend pairing it with Shure’s Mini Tripod for the best experience.

Best for Less: Shure Mv5 Digital Condenser Microphone

  • Price: $79

  • Why we like it: The Mv5 delivers solid audio quality that will still put you lightyears ahead of your built-in computer microphone, but comes in at a third of the price of the podcast mic. This version also comes with intuitive app control and easy setup.

Lighting

 Lume Cube Edge Light
Lume Cube Edge Light

Our Top Pick: Lume Cube Edge Light

  • Price: $119

  • Why we like it: A well lit room makes every video better, but not all of us are blessed with the perfectly positioned window. The Lume Cube has great build quality and easily mounts to your desk wherever you need it, allowing it to double as a task lamp when you’re not on video.

Best for Looms on the Go: Lume Video Conference Lighting Kit

  • Price: $69

  • Why we like it: The conferencing kit mounts directly on your laptop screen, making it a more portable and slightly cheaper option from Lume. It’s only about the size of a credit card so you can easily port it to wherever you’re working, and it offers adjustable color temperature and brightness.

Camera

Razer Kiyo Pro
Razer Kiyo Pro

Our Top Pick: Razer Kiyo Pro

  • Price $139.99

  • Why we like it: This camera delivers high-quality, 1080p video and has an adaptive light sensor for good image quality in most settings. The lens cover is an added plus for privacy.

Best for Early Adopters: The Opal Camera

  • Price: $300

  • Why we like it: This is extra pricey and not a fit for everyone, but if you’re eager to try next-generation gear (or maybe you have a remote work stipend to burn), the Opal Camera is a beautifully designed 4K webcam built to deliver DSLR quality. It produces excellent images even in low lighting and comes with a built-in mic with intelligent capabilities. There’s currently a waiting list, so if the Opal is for you, be sure to reserve your spot.

Ultimately, our goal with the shop is to design and curate a list of high-quality products that make your life with Loom even better. Nothing in the shop is something we wouldn’t buy, use, or wear ourselves — yes, even if we didn’t work here.

We’re excited to bring the Loom Shop to life, and we’ll be adding more products and goods over time (spoiler: bucket hats may or may not be on the roadmap). We hope you enjoy using it as much as we’ve enjoyed building it.
